In late summer this year, I started my acupuncture session. I had done it several times with a Chinese doctor in Manila before, and I liked it. Thus, when I was feeling some pain and wanted to try a different way of relaxation, I started searching for acupuncture again. With the help of Google, I found two (2) incredible acupuncturists. Here’s my experience with Acupuncture in Munich- including the doctors, costs, duration, and all that comes with it.

My Acupuncture stories in Munich and what you might want to know
Here’s my story about acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine in Munich. Please remember that this was just mine, and yours may be different.
My experience with the first acupuncturist – Gregor
The first acupuncture I tried in Munich was called Münchner Akupunkturhaus by Gregor. I scheduled an appointment online. On the first day, I filled out a form about my information and we had a short conversation about how the treatment would be and discussed with him my concerns. He listened very passionately, and spoke excellent English, which is why I was very comfortable. After that, he led me to the room with three (3) beds. There he started the needles in my forehead, both arms, behind my ears and fingers. His calmness made me super relaxed throughout the acupuncture session. He also ensured I felt comfortable and reminded me of the time left. When it was over, I came back to the room to pay. And we waved goodbye.
I booked another appointment after that. In total, I had two(2) acupuncture sessions with Gregor.
However, I was disappointed because I had to pay for not showing up. One time, on the day of my mini-surgery, I overlooked that I had booked a session with him. He texted me asking if I was already on my way as my appointment was soon. Feeling restless, I explained that I couldn’t go and asked if he could waive the penalty fee (I’m a regular, anyway). If I could find an appointment the next day, he would, he said. It was impossible for me because the time available didn’t match my schedule due to work, and obviously, I was on bed rest.
Then I asked him if he would please reconsider because, anyway, I had booked twice acupuncture sessions with him that same month. He just asked me to send the penalty fee via PayPal without further ado. I did. And then I never booked an acupuncture session with him again. Yes, I was disappointed and realised it was business after all. That was just me, though.
But what is the result of the needlework?
Well, I was relaxed.
You can check his website if you want to.

Cost, mode of payment and duration of the acupuncture session with Gregor
I paid €55 (fifty-five) on weekdays and €65 (sixty – five) on weekends and the penalty fee. ( Although it was already part of the booking when you make the appointment, which I didn’t like, as you already know.)
As for the duration, at least 1.5 hours for the first time and 1 (one) hour for the succeeding session.
My experience with the second acupuncturist in Munich – Dr. Xuming Li
I inquired first via phone and had a quick chat with Dr Li. I explained my concerns and said he would offer me some of the traditional Chinese medicine at his clinic. With no doubts, I made an appointment. On the day of my appointment, the receptionist Chinese kindly greeted and accommodated me. She was warm, friendly and chatty, and we immediately had a great conversation. She asked where I was from, what my job was,and what my concerns were. I didn’t hesitate to respond to her.
I filled out a form about my information, and Dr. Li asked me to come with him to his office. There, I told him everything that concerned me. He listened and wrote it down on his notes. Then, he checked my pulse and tongue, which I found extraordinary. He then offered me acupuncture and moxibustion. Not to mention that he made sure I was feeling warm by covering my bare feet with a thick blanket.
In his office was a single bed where I had the TCM. He had inserted needles into many parts of my body that I didn’t expect and I didn’t experience with the first acupuncturist. The treatment made me relax immediately, so I fell asleep and fully relaxed. was blown away.
The result?
That night and the following nights, I had excellent sleep, and I could feel how Dr. Li’s acupuncture treatment was highly effective. I felt amazing. Because of that, I have continued to have acupuncture sessions with Dr. Li in his clinic in Munich. Looking for another acupuncturist was not part of my plan anymore.
Cost, mode of paymen and duration of the acupuncture session with Dr. Li
I paid €50 ( fifty euro) for consultation ( it was originally €80 but Dr. Li generously gave me a discount) + €80 ( eighty euro) + for acupuncture + €30 ( thirty euro) for Moxibustion for a total of €160 ( one hundred sixty euro).
It took nearly two (2) hours for the entire acupuncture session with Dr. Li.

The HUGE difference between Gregor’s and Dr. Li’s acupuncture approach
I noticed the huge difference after trying Gregor and Dr. Li’s acupuncture in Munich. You will be surprised.
We had a short talk with Gregor and then did the acupuncture in the same room with three (3) or four (4) other people. I noticed the needle points were the same as mine ( even though I assumed we had different concerns). For example, one patient may have had a severe headache or pain in the stomach or whatever, while mine was something else. That was one. Hence, in my mind, would the meridian points still work regardless of the pain? Of course, I didn’t ask. I wish I did.
On the other hand, Dr. Li is Chinese and has studied traditional Chinese medicine since 1987. That alone made me feel like Dr. Li is a fantastic Chinese doctor who knows exactly what his patients need. Each patient has a different room, and he mainly writes down (in Chinese that I don’t understand, of course!) concerns and issues that I have told him and focuses on. For example, he gave me a Tuina massage when I said I always had an upset stomach, or he inserted needles in different meridian points every time I had an acupuncture session with him. You can read more about Dr. Li and his TCM at his website.

Final Thoughts on Acupuncture
Since I discovered the power of acupuncture in my body, I started relying on it in every physical challenge. I”ve always been grateful to acupuncture and other traditional Chinese medicine since sometimes, some modern medicines personally don’t work for me. Acupuncture does work. I like it very much. I am so glad that I found Dr. Li. He’s the best Chinese doctor I’ve ever met in my entire life. He’s warm and kind. I highly recommend Dr. Li if you are ever considering trying acupuncture in Munich. Indeed, it’s more expensive, and unfortunately, most acupuncture treatments I’ve inquired about in Munich don’t accept health insurance. But I can tell you, it’s worth every penny.
