f Puerto Galera is one of your options and looking for a lovely beachfront Airbnb, The Driftwood Cottage located in Dulangan is an ultimate choice.
Looking for a place to stay can also be overwhelming, as there are numerous choices. Luckily, Chris and I found what we were looking for. The Driftwood Cottage was exactly what we had in mind.
Photos posted on Airbnb looked sweet and ordinary, but we were astounded when we saw it in person.
That being said, The Driftwood cottage is beautifully designed inside and out. Every detail is carefully decorated. For instance, the headboard of our bed was a paddle. That’s because the main livelihood in the place is fishing. Here, let me tour you around.
Here’s my full review about the place.

The Driftwood cottage; let’s tour around
Below photos are the facilities of the Driftwood cottage Airbnb. We had full access, especially to the grill area. It was also spacey, and during that time, we were the only guests. Therefore, we had the full area.
The kitchen had basic utensils such as pots or pans. Understandably, some Airbnbs usually don’t offer breakfast, so you have to make your own. Luckily, Driftwood cottage has a built-in kitchen, so every morning, we would make our own breakfast and at night, we would grill some fresh meat from the market.
? The wet market is just a few meters away. We had rented a motorcycle which allowed us to transport from any point nearby the Airbnb.
Furthermore, Driftwood cottage perfectly suits travelers like us who want a moment of privacy. And because it is beachfront, every morning and at night, the soothing sound of the water is like a lullaby. Then we would have a glimpse of sunrise.
What to love about The Driftwood Cottage
- The staff is extra accommodating. Owen is incredibly nice, always smiling at us, assistive. Whenever we needed anything like a big pan for cooking pasta or an “itak “ for cracking a coconut, she handed it to us promptly.
- It is fronting the beach and is private. There are neighbors around since it’s located in the locals’ area, but the beach is empty—there are no tourists, just a few local kids who are happily swimming.
- The only downside is the slow internet connection. The fact that Puerto Galera is an island and not a big city, expect a slow connection. But, so what.
Overall, Chris and I both enjoyed our stay at the. We stayed for a total of 5 nights.

How to get there:
From Batangas Port, book a boat or buy a ticket to Muelle Port. Price is PHP350 per person plus the terminal fee, which is PHP30 per person.

Any restaurants nearby?
Yes. We dined out and enjoyed local cuisine like pancit and Lomi at Burp Station, just a 10-minute walk away. And there’s also a nearby bar and restaurant that we didn’t really get the chance to hang at because we mostly cooked our own food.
